- Principal investigator: Brenda Kwak
- General description: the group is centrally embedded in the Department of Pathology and Immunology of the University of Geneva by focusing on intercellular communication in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular disease. The group has performed pioneering work on the role of connexins in cardiovascular pathologies with a strong immuno-inflammatory component, such as atherosclerosis, restenosis, ischemia/reperfusion injury and thrombosis. More recently, the group has implemented pannexin-related projects and research initiatives focusing on biomechanical forces in vascular pathology to their research repertoire.
